Oconee murder suspect arrested in Virginia

Authorities believe a Pennsylvania man involved in a relationship with a woman near Seneca shot her with an AR-15 rifle and disposed of the body.  Oconee Sheriff’s Office reported the murder suspect, Philadelphia resident David Delgado Jr., is in custody in Chesterfield County, Virginia after his arrest on charges in that locale.  “At this time,” states the sheriff’s office announcement, “there is no danger to the public.” According to Oconee Coroner Karl Addis, the case originated yesterday afternoon when the body of a 26-year-old Seneca woman was found near Wells Highway and Porsche Lane.  It’s presumed her death occurred Monday evening.  An autopsy is scheduled today.  Addis says he will publicly identify the woman today.  The sheriff’s office gave this further account:  “The Sheriff’s Office investigation began after a deputy responded to an address on S. Gate Drive, which is near Carson Road, Monday evening in regards to blood discovered inside of the residence.  The deputy spoke with family members, who stated that they had left the residence to go to Anderson late Monday afternoon, leaving Delgado Jr. and the victim at the residence.  When the family members returned to the residence during the early evening hours Monday, they observed Delgado Jr. hurriedly exit the residence and get into a vehicle, a 2000 silver Chrysler 300, and speed away as attempts were made to get him to stop by a family member.  A family member told the deputy upon entering the residence, blood was observed inside of the house….The family attempted to contact the victim, who was not at the residence upon their return from Anderson but was unsuccessful in speaking to her. An initial arrest warrant was obtained against Delgado Jr. for Use of a Vehicle without Permission with Intent to Deprive…”  According to investigators, Delgado and the victim were in a relationship and had been staying at the S. Gate Drive address for about one month.
