Oconee man’s life synonymous with public education

Those at this week’s meeting of the Oconee school trustees were amazed to hear that one of the board members has been involved in one aspect or another of public education for most of his life.  Buddy Herring, the District Five trustee, received a pin and a certificate denoting his service on the policy board of public education in the county.  While accepting the awards, Herring noted that he has spent 54 years affiliated with local public education.  His time has included teaching, serving as county superintendent and, as he is today, service on the school board.
