Oconee GOP primary results official

The votes were tabulated last Saturday night.  Now the ballots cast by Oconeeans in the state’s presidential primary are official.  Action yesterday by the county board of canvassers re-affirmed that former President Trump received about six of every ten votes cast by Oconee voters, contrasted to the number received by former Governor Haley.  Attached to the ballot were three advisory questions, all of which prevailed.  On question #1, “Should South Carolina law be changed to give people the right to register to vote with the political party of their choice?”,  11,566 voted yes, 4,168 voted no.  On question #2, “Should South Carolina adopt reforms to increase the independence and accountability of our judiciary by improving transparency and reducing conflicts of interest in the process of reviewing judicial qualifications and electing judges?”, Oconee voters said yes 14,277 times to no 1,371 times.  And on question #3, “Should it be an immediate legislative priority to protect South Carolina’s competitiveness and small businesses by changing state law so that a person’s responsibility for financial damages in a lawsuit is based on that person’s actual share of responsibility?”, Oconeeans voted 13,792 in favor and 1,733 against.  Going into the primary, out of a field of 51,775 registered voters, 17,020 cast ballots – equating to a 32.87% turnout.
