Oconee Election results

Two incumbents can consider themselves the nominees.  A newcomer appears to have captured his party’s nomination.  They are Oconee Election highlights.  scvotes.org reports Rep. Whitmire, Walhalla Republican, with nearly 65%, to challenger Sparks’ 35%.  In the Oconee County Council tussles, Elliott wins the nominee for a new, 4-year term with nearly 59%, to challenger Knapp’s 41%.  In a tight race, Don Mize prevailed over Jeff Bright by 18 votes to be the nominee for Seat 3.  Oconee GOP voters went with the state to re-nominate McMaster for Governor.  The GOP’s McMaster now meets Democratic primary nominee Cunningham in November to decide who gets the governor’s mansion.  The Republican National Committee paid attention to the governor’s race.  The chairwoman’s comment:  “Congratulations to Governor McMaster and all of the South Carolina Republican nominees….”
