Not filing a return may mean money left on table

Each year in South Carolina, thousands of people earn some income but not enough to require them to file an individual income tax return.  For instance, says the state Department of Revenue, single taxpayers under 65 who make less than $13,850 are not required to file a return.  But just because you aren’t required to file a return doesn’t mean it’s not in your best interest.  In fact, you could be leaving money on the table if you choose not to file.  Some tax credits are refundable.
