Norway rocket launch had a Clemson connection

A Clemson physicist, Gerald Lehmacher, and others from the university, including researchers and students, found themselves in Norway for a recent launch of two sounding rockets.  The hope is that the rockets launched in March from Andoya Space in Norway will provide insight into how winds and energy from the Earth’s lower atmosphere affect the upper atmosphere, which can impact satellite technology.  They want to learn how high-altitude winds and waves produce, guide or absorb buoyancy waves.  Those waves often come from approaching storm fronts or winds hitting tall mountains and being sent upwards.
