No drastic cutback steps as yet for Seneca

At least one Highlands car wash has closed to save water, as mandatory restrictions remain in place in the North Carolina mountain town.  We spoke this morning to the man who runs Oconee’s largest water distributor, Bob Faires of Seneca Light and Water.  The lack of rain is a concern, as Faires explained, but the situation locally has not reached the point to require mandatory use restrictions.  The forecasters that Light and Water consults hold hope of some significant rain in weeks ahead.  Meantime, Faires believes that the conservative nature of Upstate South Carolinians is such that they simply don’t waste water to start with.  And if they continue with that practice, Faires believes, the situation can avoid taking drastic measures.
