Next, says Brocks, is a signature on a contract

Oconee County fathers, in a special meeting, have re-confirmed funds of up to $2.5M for wastewater expansion for Sewer South.  The county council vote of 3-0 came this morning.  Chairman Elliott and councilmen Mize and Hart all made statements affirming their commitment to a project that is seen as creating the potential for economic development on Oconee’s four-mile stretch of the interstate.  The fourth member, Julian Davis, was absent from this morning’s meeting. Mize attached to his comments that he wants those who make their living in the southern Oconee farm community will be able to continue their agriculture way of life and their lands protected.  Gwen McPhail is a member of a long-time farm family.  She was in the audience for the vote.  “They’ve promised that they will protect the farmland, so we’ll see what happens,” is part of the reaction that she gave to 101.7/WGOG NEWS.
