Next on the South Carolina election calendar

To understand why politicians are beginning to stir in the last days of February, one needs only to take a look at the 2022 Election Calendar, as published by the South Carolina Election Commission.  Starting at noon on Wednesday, March 16 will be a two-week period in which candidates for governor, a slew of other state offices, for certain federal offices, and for various countywide and less than countywide offices are to officially qualify for run in this year’s primary elections.  The qualifying period will run to noon Wednesday, March 30.  The 31 of March is a deadline for political parties to hold county conventions.
