New Salem budget amounts to $7.6M

A new budget is in place for the Oconee County town of Salem.  This time the budget exceeds $7.5M, and Ryan Hardin, the town administrator, traces the higher figure to projects for which Salem has acquired outside grants.  The town will ask its customers to pay, on average, an additional one dollar on their water bills.  Asked to identify a project in the next year that carries significant importance, Hardin said it’s the closing of a loop of a water line that’ll serve customers and encourage the growth of commercial development in the area.
