New Kentucky flood relief trip organized from Oconee

The need in a rural Kentucky county, victimized by catastrophic flooding last summer has switched from food to household items, says a Salem area man who is helping to organize a new trip to Hindman in Knott County this week.  “We would like to leave out on the 13th with a load of working used appliances (stoves, washer/dryers, refrigerators, microwaves, etc), says Marcus Hedden.  In demand also are hammers, nails, screws, cordless tools, and sheetrock.  Mr. Hedden and his wife, Lisa, at their Burnt Tanyard Road home are also continuing to accept toiletries, baby items, and gift cards for the victims trying to rebuild their lives from up to ten inches of rain that fell last July in eastern Kentucky.  To donate, you may also call the Heddens at 864/247-8535.
