New impetus for a new Walhalla police station?

Joe Borgstrom normally does not attempt to influence those from whom he seeks opinions about what to do about a specific property, but he made some extemporaneous comments this week that revealed what he thinks about the city-owned building which houses the Walhalla Police Department at the corner of Main and N. College streets.  The real estate re-development specialist doesn’t like the building at all, and thinks Walhalla will be better off by demolishing the building and constructing something deeper on the lot which stretches behind the building.  The building, constructed in the 1960s, once served as a combination police station/city hall.  Borgstrom this week gathered comments from a handful of interested Walhallans about what they might envision for a half dozen public and private-owned buildings in the downtown area, including the former county courthouse.  His Wallhalla visit was at the invitation of the city’s Main Street program, and he’s promising a report to the city by Thanksgiving.
