New fire station yet to go into operation

Nearly two years after ground was broken, an Oconee fire substation in a Seneca bedroom community has yet to be placed into operation.  But Amanda Brock, county administrator, says stayed tuned.  Acknowledging that the Bountyland fire station building has been finished, Brock says the county fire service is still in the process of appointing fire battalion commanders to man the station.  She’s hopeful of an official opening “in the month or so.”  From the location, next to the Maranatha Baptist Church, the newest rural county fire station is intended to cover an area encompassing 10 thousand homes in a five-mile radius.
