Negotiated deal for ballfield upgrades

Walhalla has negotiated a bid for nearly $24 and one-half thousand dollars for work on Chicopee Field.  The old textile neighborhood field fell into disrepairs, but is considered worth re-building as a new recreation amenity.  After last night’s meeting, Mayor Edwards announces that the funds are enough to repair the concrete bleachers and provide handicap access.  The group Friends of Chicopee, along with Partners for Progress, raised about $20 thousand.  Last night city council moved $8,450 from hospitality money and will use $16 thousand of donation money for dugouts and ballfield banners.
