National Public Lands Day is Saturday

National Public Lands Day is this Saturday.  To make it a success from the standpoint of the managers of three large public reservoirs in South Carolina, volunteers are needed.  This annual event assembles hundreds of thousands of volunteers across the country to help restore and preserve local, state and federal public lands–from national parks and rivers to local urban green spaces.  There’s an opportunity to help preserve Lake Hartwell, where the focus will be cleaning up litters and other non-natural debris along the shorelines and islands around the lake.  The event officially runs 9 am to noon and volunteers can arrive by boat or vehicle and may sign up on the morning of.  Six manned Lake Hartwell locations are available to choose from to pick up bags and gloves, as well as to drop off collected trash.  They are Sadlers Creek State Park, Lake Hartwell State Park, Green Pond Landing, Twin Lakes Boat Ramp, Big Oaks Boat Ramp, and Tugaloo State Park.
