Mountain Rest burglary call produces North Carolinian’s arrest

A weekend burglary call to Mountain Rest led county deputies to the arrest of a man at a Highlands Highway home.  Deputies quoted the homeowner as saying that early Sunday morning he was awakened by the sound of someone banging on his front door, and that he watched as his door was kicked in.  The investigation produced the following charges against Browns Summit, North Carolina resident John Michael Sandlin of malicious injury to real property, breach of peace aggravated in nature, and enter/attempt to enter house without breaking.
