Money from Columbia to boost Oconee teacher pay

Back from this week’s legislative session at the state capital, Oconee Rep. Bill Whitmire says the House is determined to raise teacher pay and other benefits, mainly because the state is facing a large teacher shortage.  Whitmire says teachers are, in some cases, retiring and some have decided to leave the profession.  The increased pay benefits Whitmire, in his words, can be heard today on the 5 pm 101.7/WGOG NEWS.
