Millions spent for lake access area enhancements

As a child, Phil Shirley and his dad, the late Wayne Shirley, on occasion would take in Clemson’s Tigerama from a vantage point from across the lake.  The view from the Seneca Creek Access Area across Lake Hartwell also allows for a spectacular sight at night when the Tigers play in Death Valley.  These days Phil Shirley directs Oconee’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism and is intricately involved in the recent Seneca Creek Access Area upgrades – a new three-lane boat ramp, two courtesy docks, a fishing pier, a kayak launch, and a picnic area.
