Meth arrest at Walhalla S. Cedar Street home

A 9-1-1 hangup call and welfare check led the Walhalla police to a home, with the result one man arrested and illegal drugs discovered.  The arrest of Eduardo Eslava Aguilar took place on S. Cedar Street the early morning hours of Valentine’s Day on charges of trafficking in methamphetamine and assaulting a police officer.  A statement released by Chief Tim Rice provides the following details: “When officers arrived on scene, they found two men outside the home who were about to fight each other.  After receiving permission to search the home by the occupants, officers discovered numerous items of drug paraphernalia along with approximately 369 grams of methamphetamine.  During the arrest the suspect aggressively lunged at and grabbed the arresting officer.  The officer was able to handcuff and arrest the suspect and place him in the officer’s patrol vehicle.  The suspect had only minor scrapes to his leg and the officer was not injured during the incident.”  Aguilar was jailed under a combined surety bond of $352,125.00.
