A Seneca man remained jailed yesterday, pending a bond hearing, after his arrest on the charge of Attempted Murder.

24 year old Justin Jacob Engle, of Watersedge Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 9:56pm Thursday.  Engle has also been charged with one count of Driving under Suspension as a result of a traffic stop near Walhalla.

Deputies responded to the Watersedge Road address near Seneca regard to reports of a stabbing.  While deputies began an investigation, the victim, an adult female who is a family member of Engle’s, was transported to the hospital by paramedics for further treatment.

The investigation was turned over to the Criminal Investigations/School Safety Bureau.  Engle, who had left the incident scene in the victim’s vehicle before deputies arrived, was taken into custody, without incident, during the course of a traffic stop on N. Catherine Street near Fox Run Road.

Engle was transported to the hospital for treatment of an injury to this right hand.  After receiving treatment, he was transported to jail.

According to the arrest warrant obtained by an Investigator, Engle has been charged with stabbing the victim in the left cheek with a kitchen/steak knife in an attempt to kill the victim.

Due to the nature of the incident, and the charges that have been filed, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing the victim’s name nor the nature of the relationship between the victim and the suspect.  Also, due to safety and privacy concerns, the Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing information regarding patient condition or the location where the victim was transported for treatment.
