Look carefully for the check in the mail

The coffers of the Joint Regional Sewer Authority at Seneca have been enriched by the arrival of a $23 thousand check, issued as part of a class action settlement of a case titled, “Cook et al v. South Carolina Public Service Authority.  As David Dial, sewer commissioner, said at a meeting yesterday the settlement results from the lawsuits filed over the failure to build a new South Carolina nuclear power station, for which electric power consumers had been billed in advance.  The JRSA is a Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative customer. It may not be the only check, as note of explanation reads:  “The enclosed check constitutes your pro rata share from the Common Benefit Fund pursuant to the Court’s Order Approving Plan for Further Administration and Subsequent Distributions of Settlement available at http://www.santeecooperclassaction.com/.
