Lighting a fire under county leadership

Lynn and Eddie Martin enjoy the rural life of Oconee County from Tamassee, but they see the creep of a Char-lanta scenario taking its grip on a county proud of its natural resources.  Of late, Oconee midway between Atlanta and Charlotte has become a pro-growth county, and outside developers sense dollar signs.  Speaking to county council, Eddie Martin urged the elected leaders to pursue a “counter-growth” policy.  The Martins see the need for affordable housing in a county approximating 80 thousand population, but they view some of the new housing developments as cheap quality.
