Levels of confidence for a new agreement

Mayor Dan Alexander of Seneca welcomed two Oconee County officials to last night’s city hall meetings, and then invited them to join the city council as it again in closed session addressed the matter of a new fire contract with the county.  So into the council’s private meeting room went Matthew Durham, the county council chairman, and Don Mize, Seneca’s representative to the county council.  And when all parties emerged, officials spoke with confidence that Seneca and Oconee County will reach an agreement for the city to continue to provide fire protection within an unincorporated area around the city’s corporate limits. Yet, when the council convened its open session follow executive session, there was no vote.
