Lengthy pre-trial hearing argues April zoning ruling

A two-and-one-half-hour hearing today failed to resolve an appeal of an Oconee Board of Zoning Appeals’ decision that will enable property owners to go forward with a 19-home subdivision on Lake Keowee.  The appeals board and an engineering and survey company are the respondents in a case brought forth by John’s Marine, a boat service business on the Ellenburg Road.  John’s Marine is challenging an April decision granting an 18-foot variance from the right of way to build a public road.  Judge Cordell Maddox heard the arguments by the attorneys representing a number of parties but elected to consider what he heard as information.  However, he told the parties they can expect his decision as early as Monday next week.
