Legal business tops city council agenda

The start of tomorrow’s December meeting of the Westminster City Council will be preceded by a scheduled one-hour closed-door meeting to address legal matters involving the city’s electric power supplier.  The open part of the meeting with invocation and pledge of allegiance is set for 6 o’clock.  During the open session, the council is to consider a motion to authorize “the City Administrator, Westminster’s PMPA Board Director, to execute a Settlement Agreement and Mutual Release as discussed in executive session.”  In a lawsuit, Westminster’s fellow members of the Piedmont Municipal Power Agency–Greer and Rock Hill–have accused PMPA of defaulting of its responsibilities and obligations under agreements.  The terms of settlement, however, are to remain confidential at the request of the involved lawyers until all parties have had the chance to consider the terms.
