Lawyer placed on interim suspension

An order by Chief Justice Donald Beatty places attorney Edward Delane Rosemond on interim suspension from the practice of law in South Carolina.  Beatty’s order, dated Thursday last week, states that the Office of Disciplinary Counsel requested the Supreme Court to place Rosemond on interim suspension pursuant to Rule 17(b) of the Rules for Lawyer Disciplinary Enforcement.  It further appoints Peyre Lumpkin responsible for Rosemond’s client files, trust accounts, escrow accounts, operating accounts, and other law office accounts Rosemond may maintain.  The order concludes:  “Mr. Lumpkin’s appointment shall be for a period of no longer than nine months unless an extension of the period of appointment is requested.”
