Lamar Bailes to move to non-voting advisory role

For health reasons, Lamar Bailes will relinquish his role as a Walhalla representative to the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority.  But, at the recommendation of Mayor Danny Edwards, Bailes’ interest and expertise in city government will not be lost.  Last night the city council approved the mayor’s recommendation to retain Bailes as a non-voting advisory member to the city.  That will enable Bailes to attend meetings.  Edwards praised Bailes for more than 50 years of representing Walhalla as a councilman, a mayor, and a JRSA representative.  Bailes’ seat on the JRSA board is to be taken by Brandon Burton, the city administrator.
