Lake Hartwell drowning victim’s body recovered Saturday

The man who drowned Friday on the Hart County, Georgia side of Lake Hartwell has been identified as Constantin Pascal, a 44-year old father who jumped into the water to help his son.  Pascal’s body was recovered Saturday.  WLHR Lavonia quotes Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland as saying a family was boating on the lake Friday afternoon at Paynes Creek Campground. The boat pulled two children on an innertube and the life jacket the boy wore somehow came off. The father jumped into to reach the boy and the lifejacket but went under and never resurfaced.  According to authorities, the boy was helped to shore by someone on a personal watercraft.
