Lake Hartwell boat ramp to be closed temporarily

On Monday, January 9, 2023, the Mullins Ford Boat Ramp, located
on Mullins Ford Landing Road near Westminster, will close to the
public.
The temporary closure is for site improvements, including the
installation of a new drainage pipe and the addition of a new launch
area that will add 106’ to the launch prep area.
Weather permitting, the construction is expected to take
approximately three weeks. Mullins Ford Boat Ramp will open as soon
as the improvements are completed. The public will be notified should
construction exceed the anticipated project completion date.
“Mullins Ford, one of the original boat ramps on Lake Hartwell, does
not have a large enough launch space to handle the larger boats trying
to launch into the lake. The addition of this drainage pipe and launch
space will allow larger boats to access this area of the lake without
having to pull off of the provided launch area. We expect the work to
take approximately two to three weeks with Hubbard Paving
contracted to complete the work”, says Phil Shirley, Director of Parks,
Recreation & Tourism for Oconee County.
Signs and barriers will be placed at the boat ramp on Monday,
January 9, 2023 and no public entry will be allowed until project
completion. Nearby access ramps to Lake Hartwell include Choestoea,
South Union, Fair Play, Tabor and Lake Hartwell State Park.
