Keowee River Project has commissioners talking

The possibility of approving sewer service to a project called Keowee River had Oconee’s board of sewer commissioners talking yesterday about the need for a comprehensive plan and study for central Oconee County.  Chris Eleazer, executive director of the Joint Regional Sewer Authority, outlined the need and benefit for a study to encompass a wide swath of rural Oconee property bordering Lake Hartwell north to bordering Lake Keowee — a study similar to the one that has been underway covering large parts of southern Oconee to I-85.  Brian Ramey, board chairman, cautioned his colleagues that he believes county government support is a pre-requisite.  Eleazer said he believes there would be county support.
