Kayaks capsize in Lake Jocassee

One kayaker was rescued safely; a second remains unaccounted for this morning — the result of a high winds early Saturday night at Lake Jocassee.  Scott Krein of Oconee Emergency Preparedness says searchers are bringing in sonar equipment to help in the continuing search for a male kayaker from Georgia.  Krein says two kayaks capsized.  Around 7 Saturday night one of the kayakers, a female, was found holding onto her boat in the middle of the deep water lake.  A dog on board made it safely to shore.  According to Krein, the mishap was unrelated to a kayak competition earlier in the day.  The two whose kayaks capsized were preparing to camp for the night in a remote area near the lake.
