Judge’s rulings end wrongful death and medical malpractice cases

In separate judge’s rulings this afternoon, the Oconee Common Pleas Court closed out three cases – one of them alleging wrongful death and the two others alleging medical malpractice.  Taken together, the rulings by Judge Scott Sprouse set in motion settlements totaling $975 thousand dollars to be divided among three plaintiffs.  In the case of Sara Holbrooks for the estate of Shirley Ann Smith vs. Upstate Medical Associates and others, the plaintiff is to receive $606 thousand dollars.  In Alondar Guerra, as personal representative of the estate of Araceli Gomez Lara, vs. Senior Solutions, plaintiff Guerra was approved for $110 thousand.  And, in Shelia Stephens for the estate of David Lamar Stephens vs. Seneca Health and Rehabilitation, the plaintiff was approved for $260 thousand dollars.
