John Powell to dial Tri-County Tech’s number

John Powell intends to pick up the phone today and make a call on behalf of the city of Walhalla.  Powell told last night’s meeting of the city council that he’ll make a call to his alma mater to inquire about the possibility of re-instituting a course to prepare individuals to be water treatment plant operators.  Powell volunteered after hearing Scott Parris, the utilities superintendent, say that the city is having to run its 24-hour a day treatment plant with just three full-time and two part-time operators.  Parris said he has tried without success to recruit individuals to work as operators but, so far, no one is willing to even apply.
