JMB Junior Journal is off the presses

In a time when some cynics decry the lack of writing skill among the youngest of the population comes an effort at one Walhalla public school which counteracts that thought.  The JMB Junior Journal is a new school newspaper at Walhalla’s James Brown Elementary School.  April Adams of the Brown Elementary faculty last night introduced the county trustees to some of the James Brown pupils who gather and write the content, some of which is based on interviews that the youngsters conduct. Among the school news reporter are Aubree Darnell, William Rogers, Alex Hendley, David Gunnels, Naomi Cordova, Richelle Gonzalez, and Karleigh Galloway.  The stab that the pupils are making into the world newspaper work was not lost on Dr. Michael Thorsland, district superintendent.  With a glance last night at the news media table, with reporters from The Journal and 101.7/WGOG, Thorsland said in the future an Oconee news media might include a former student newspaper reporter from James Brown Elementary.
