January sewer meeting?

Julian Davis says if he chaired Oconee County Council, he’d call a meeting for January in an attempt to resolve questions about a $25 million dollar bond issue and to clear up questions about sewer to I-85 as part of Sewer South #2.  Council chairman Matthew Durham said he’s willing to call for such a meeting and wants Chris Eleazer, executive director of the Joint Regional Sewer Authority, to present the JRSA’s plan.  Following Monday’s JRSA board meeting, last night’s county council meeting was another meeting where confusion or misinformation ran rampant about the intent to lay sewer pipe to hook up the I-85 corridor with the Golden Corner Commerce Park on SC 59.  And it was the second straight night in which farmers complained that, from what they’ve learned, sewer will threaten their livelihoods.  Family farmer Andy Whiten was the first agriculturist to address the council last night. In last night’s council meeting, District Four’s Julian Davis questioned the actions of his District Five colleague, Glenn Hart, in obtaining a GIS map that revealed sewer line penetration.  But Hart said the map was more like a sketch of what’s possible, and his purpose in giving the map to Justin Ables of the Oconee Farm Bureau was for information and an invitation to give feedback.
