It’s “STEM” Education Month in South Carolina

Two Oconee County elementary schools are among 50 in the state that’ll celebrate “STEM” Education Month in a special way.  Walhalla’s James Brown Elementary and Seneca’s Blue Ridge Elementary are among selected school s to host fun, hands-on science events for students and their families. According to Clemson University, making this possible is a partnership among Duke Energy, South Carolina’s Coalition for Mathematics and Science and the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center.  “STEM” stands for science, technology, engineering and math and is considered crucial for preparing students for jobs of the future. At no cost to the schools, materials are being provided to engage the elementary students in downloadable digital resources.  In the coming weeks, school staff members will plan event details.
