Indictments revealed in “Devil in Disguise” probe

State grand jury indictments are unsealed today in a narcotics trafficking investigation titled by the office of the attorney general as “Devil in Disguise”.  So far, according to the announcement by Attorney General Alan Wilson, five indictments have been issued in three Upstate counties, Pickens County included, against 64 defendants.  Those defendants will face a total of 327 narcotics and related charges.  Primarily “Devil in Disguise” focuses on fentanyl trafficking and associated overdoses.  Through the investigation at least six fentanyl overdose deaths are allegedly tied to the conspiracy to traffic and distribute.  Further, according to the AG’s office, law enforcement has learned that fentanyl is being used to adulterate heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and other illegal drugs.
