Ian, a time to lay aside divisive politics

Considering the potential for a divisive presidential election in two years, Joe Biden and Ron DeSantis seem an odd pairing this week.  But the U-S president and the Florida governor, at loggerheads on many issues, were in accord this week with the need for the federal government to help Florida recover from Hurricane Ian.  The Associated Press has described the handshake and phone calls between Democrat Biden and Republican DeSantis as a détente, liable to be temporary only.  Temporary or not, Seneca’s state lawmaker, Rep. Bill Sandifer, views the resolve between a Democratic Washington administration and a Florida Republican administration as a good sign.  “That’s typical of how things are done.  You put aside politics altogether.  You come together to do what’s good for the state or the country,” Sandifer said today.
