Human trafficking training seminar held in Oconee

A Crimestoppers’ seminar last week in Oconee highlighted a wave of crime that is present in all 50 states and amounts to $150 billion for the perpetrators.  A Columbia-based private investigator, Dr. Chandra Cleveland, imparted tips and tools to classes of Oconee law enforcement personnel, local school workers, and members of non-profit groups as to how to recognize human trafficking.  Cleveland is a former Richland County officer assigned to vice and gangs and, according to Helen Westmoreland of Crimestoppers, Cleveland has been responsible for rescuing more than 100 victims of human trafficking.
