How generous Columbia might be today

In a sense, Oconee Joint Regional Sewer will cast its fate to the wind today during a state agency meeting in Columbia.  This afternoon the board of the Rural Infrastructure Authority will consider funding applications, one of which is the JRSA’s request for monies to meet a contractor’s bid for Sewer South Phase Two.  Meantime, County Council’s ears may still be ringing from the words Tuesday night of a procession of Fair Play area farmers who warn that wherever sewer is extended, urban sprawl more than not results.  The local agriculturists are worried their livelihoods could be in jeopardy, along with the potential for the county to lose farmland irretrievably.
