How does 80,015 (population) sound?

On at least one South Carolina government website, Oconee County’s population is listed at 80,015.  And an official of the county’s Economic Alliance says 80,015 is a number that her office feels confident about as it goes to market the county for economic development.  With the 2020 Census, the number of Oconeeans had been pegged in the range of 78,000.  But the Oconee E-A’s Morgan Holcombe says it’d be no surprise if new estimates in just the last two years have cleared the 80,000 mark–considering all of the residential building and home sales that are taking place.
