Home fire near the Lawrence Bridge Road

Home fire late last night in the Seneca area.  The fire was reported just after 10:30 on Alpine Drive near the Lawrence Bridge Road.  According to county dispatch, no one injured.  The presence of fire fighters was required for some two to three hours.  Chief Christenbury of the Corinth-Shiloh Fire Department provides the following account: “Fire started in the basement.  Family of 4 was upstairs.  Smoke alarms alerted the occupants….2 adults, 2 children safely exited the home.  So it’s important to always have smoke alarms and ensure they are operating properly. We responded along with Seneca fire, Keowee fire, Seneca rescue, OC emergency services.  Red Cross was called to assist the homeowners.  Engine 33 with a crew of 4 volunteers arrived quickly as we were already in the fire engine enroute to an elevator incident.  That incident handled by engine 30 while 33 rerouted to the structure fire.  Arrived quickly and found light smoke showing and quickly extinguished the fire.  Seneca Fire arrived and promptly provided assistance as other units arrived to assist.  Crews remained on scene and checked for extension, removed smoke from the residence, monitoring the air using gas monitor, located and removed all animals from the residence, 4 cats, 1 dog, all lived.  Cause of the fire is still under investigation.
