Home builder advocates sewer expansion, but not now

A home builder is in favor of Oconee’s Sewer South phase two, but not now.  Tom Markovich, in public comments made last night, joined the chorus of those who maintain that southern parts of the county are deserving of piped sewer, but this time of high inflation isn’t the time.  Markovich believes the hundreds of millions of dollars allotted by federal government to help South Carolina catch up with infrastructure projects delayed during the pandemic have created a situation in which contractors have more work than they can reasonable accommodate, the continual spike in the cost of materials, and continuing supply chain delays have led to unreasonably high project costs.  His advice is to wait until pressures ease across the financial market.
