Guarding against a cyber attack from afar

What Ukraine faces by the Russian invasion wasn’t far from the thoughts of those at last night’s Oconee County Council meeting.  Chairman Elliott prefaced the moment of silence by calling attention to the courage Ukraine has shown at Russia’s military might.  And, during the presentation of Oconee’s annual financial audit, the outside auditor (Grant Davis) announced his firm’s one management recommendation is for the county to better protect itself from a cyber attack, possibly originating from inside Russia.  In the discussion, county administrator Amanda Brock said the county carries insurance against cyber attacks.  One such attack a few years back succeeded in someone from the outside penetrating sensitive county records, which initiated a state police investigation.
