Grant allows for improved law enforcement communications

A recent $20 thousand Duke Energy grant will help improve communications between the Oconee Sheriff’s Office and two state law enforcement agencies.  The grant allows the sheriff’s office to buy 13 handheld radios that have been distributed to game wardens with South Carolina DNR and troopers with the highway patrol.  According to Sheriff Crenshaw, his office is on a different radio system than that of both the DNR and the highway patrol.  But the new radios, with the push of a button, will enable all three to communicate with one another.
