Getting to know Wally Sparks

Wally Sparks has lived in Oconee only two years.  That’s why his campaign helper says it’s important to spread the word on Sparks’ hopes to land a seat in the state legislature.  A Salem resident, Sparks is running for District One, SC House of Representatives.  Which means that he, as a Republican, is challenging Walhalla’s Bill Whitmire, a 20-year veteran of the state’s lower chamber.  Interviewed yesterday by 101.7/WGOG NEWS, Sparks said he decided to go into politics because, “I’m just really frustrated with the direction the country is going right now.  I can’t just sit back and complain and do nothing.”  He lists his background as 33 years’ law enforcement in two parts of Wisconsin.  He describes his GOP philosophy as conservative and suggest Whitmire’s voting record is not conservative enough.  101.7/WGOG NEWS has reached out with a request to interview Whitmire about his campaign for a new term.
