Georgia angler takes early lead in bass tourney

Georgia boater Elijah “Buddy” Benson of Dahlonega led Day 1 of the Phoenix All-American bass tourney at Lake Hartwell.  Cool weather greeted the anglers yesterday morning and the bite started out slow, but after the scales were closed 18-year old Benson stood alone atop the leaderboard.  He brought a five-bass limit to the scale weighing 19 pounds, 9 ounces.  Benson starts Day 2 with a slim advantage over second place boater Emil Wagner of Marietta, Georgia.  Anglers launch at 6:30 each morning from the Seneca Creek Boat Ramp; weigh-in each day at the boat ramp start at 2:30.  Fans are welcome to attend all launch and weigh events and may follow online coverage at MajorLeagueFishing.com.
