Fuel truck driver killed in rural Oconee crash

A 54 year-old Franklin, NC man died Sunday evening in Oconee County at approximately 6:15 pm after a single vehicle collision.

The deceased was the driver of an 18-wheeler fuel truck which overturned on Long Creek Highway (U.S. 76) near Spy Rock Road west of Westminster.  He died at the scene.

He was in transit from the fuel depot at Belton, SC back to Franklin, NC at the time of the collision.

Coroner Karl Addis says his name will be released when family has been notified.

An autopsy will be scheduled to assist with the death investigation.

His manner of death is classified accidental.
