For now pounding rain, but later high winds

Right now the hard rain makes driving difficult, but National Weather Service urges those in the 101.7/WGOG listening area to prepare for the high winds that could reach between 20 and 30 miles an hour and gusts of 45 mph.  Wind advisory until 10 o’clock tonight.  Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects.  Tree limbs could come down and power outages are not out of the question.  Duke Energy has issued this reminder:  If a power line falls across your car, stay in the car.  If you MUST get out due to a fire or other life-threatening situation, do your best to jump clear of the car and land on both feet.  Be sure that no part of your body touches the car when your feet touch the ground.  If you are driving and come across a utility crew work along the road to repair power, move over or slow down to keep crews and yourself safe.  It’s not just a good idea, it’s the law.
