First-Generation student sets good example

A 26-year old Walhallan, Luis Hernandez, manages both a full-time work schedule and a full-time education load.  Last summer Hernandez’s life changed over the course of a week when his supervisor at JTEKT North America asked if he’d like to enroll at Tri-County Technical College and expand his skill set.  In the last six years, he has worked in the heat treat department, in material handling and most recently as an assembly operator at the Walhalla plant.  Hernandez, a first-generation college student, is the first in his family to graduate from high school.
